What we collect

We only collect what you choose to give us when you use the site:

  • When you light a candle, or leave a petition or tribute, we collect the name or sign-off you enter, your email address, and the words you write.
  • For petitions and tributes, the words you submit may be shown publicly after we review them. Your email is never shown publicly.
  • For candles, your full prayer stays private. Only a short public line, or the meaning of the color you chose, appears on the wall, and you may light a candle anonymously.
  • If you tick the newsletter box, we add your email to our mailing list. If you leave it unticked, your email is used only for the candle or petition you submitted.
  • To limit spam, we briefly check the network address (IP) of a submission. It is held only for a short anti-spam window and is not kept afterward.

Payments and donations

Gifts are processed by Shopify under Lives of the Saints Inc. Your card and payment details are handled by Shopify and are never seen or stored by this site.

How we use what we collect

We use it to display approved submissions, to tie a candle to the person who lit it, to send the newsletter to people who asked for it, to keep the site free of spam and abuse, and to run and maintain the site.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your information, ever. We rely on a few service providers who process data on our behalf: our web host, our email tool (Kit, formerly ConvertKit) for the newsletter, and Shopify for donations. This site also loads fonts from Google, which may receive your network address in order to serve them.

Your choices

You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any email. You can ask us to remove a petition, tribute, or candle you submitted, or to delete the information we hold about you, by emailing [email protected].

How long we keep it

Petitions, tributes, and candles remain until they expire, or until you or we remove them. Anti-spam data expires on its own within a short window.

This site is intended for adults aged 18 and older.

We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date above shows when it last changed.

What you post

When you submit a petition, tribute, or candle, you agree that:

  • The words are your own and you have the right to share them.
  • You will not include personal information about other people, such as their full names, phone numbers, or addresses.
  • You will not post anything unlawful, hateful, harassing, threatening, sexually explicit, or spam.
  • Everything is reviewed before it appears, and we may edit, decline, or remove anything at our discretion.
  • By submitting, you give us permission to display your words on the site. You may ask us to remove them at any time.

Donations

Gifts to the site are voluntary and help keep it running. They are processed by Shopify under Lives of the Saints Inc. Because they are voluntary offerings, gifts are generally non-refundable. If something went wrong with a gift, contact us at [email protected] and we will do our best to help.

Our content

The text, images, and design of this site belong to Lives of the Saints Inc., except for the words visitors submit. Please do not copy or reuse the site’s content without permission.

As-is, and limits

The site is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent the law allows, Lives of the Saints Inc. is not liable for any loss or harm arising from your use of the site.
